Toshiba 32AV615D and 32AV635D Picture issues - Multicoloured lines on screen

June 26, 2013
Yet more screen faults, we've now found that the basic but good old reliable Toshiba TVs are now also suffering from picture faults, mainly due to the screen which wasn't made by them!

We have had some Toshiba 32AV615D and 32AV635D models in recently which display a flash of multicoloured criss-cross lines intermittently.

If your TV looks a bit like the picture above then we may be able to help!
This is relatively a new issue for us so if you have a Toshiba model that is different to the ones stated above but it shows the same symptoms then we may still be able to fix this for you.

Computer Virus: Chester Police scam

June 24, 2013
There has been a massive increase in virus and malware infections in the past 6 months, and are increasingly difficult to stop or remove. We recommend that you keep anti-virus programs up to date, do regular scans, and check downloaded files for malware before opening them.

The Chester Police virus is a particularly clever and tricky one, that can even use the owner's webcam against them and accuse them of all sorts of misdeeds before suggesting a payment to remove it. Of course, if you pay th...

LG RHT497H/RHT498H slow/sluggish behaviour

May 29, 2013
We have had a couple of LG RHT497H and LG RHT498H HDD/DVD Freeview recorders coming into the workshop with slow/sluggish behaviour.

This can be improved but requires a workshop repair rather than in the home.

These recorders can also suffer with subtitles appearing and causing issues, there is a partial fix where subtitles will only appear during a recording but not on playback. Again this is something we would need to do in the workshop.

Inspection Charge

May 22, 2013
We charge £36.00 for all TV and computer repairs upfront as an inspection charge. I would like clarify that this does get taken off the final bill as it then goes towards labour costs should you want to go ahead with the repair.

Some people may be put off by this inspection charge, but for us it is paramount - We invest a lot into equipment, parts and time. By setting an upfront charge: a) we know the customer is serious about having it repaired, and b) We have an obligation to get on with th...

March 18, 2013
There will be a Freeview Retune on the 27th March for the Mendip Transmitter, which will most likely affect those on the Bathampton Transmitter as well.

Expect to lose signal of channels in the morning and those receiving signal from the Mendip will need to retune to get the BBC channels back. People on the Bathampton Transmitter may be affected but we recommend you do not retune your tv.

Unfortunately due to holiday commitments we will be unable to help until the 29th, not ideal I appreciate ...

Cracked Laptop/Notebook/Netbook Screen Replacements

March 11, 2013
We can now source and replace most laptop, notebook and netbook screens. Due to the number of different types of screen we can only offer a rough repair price quote upfront. Once we have stripped down the laptop and spoken to our suppliers we can then give you the actual repair cost.

Because of this, we are waivering our usual upfront Inspection charge.

Labour charge is fixed and total repair cost soley depends on the size and type of screen. Price of screens tend to fluctuate so I can only sug...

Sony KDL-S2010 Series

February 11, 2013
Since the New Year we have had a small number of Sony's KDL-S2010 model in for repair.

Issue #1:
  • No function of Digital Freeview channels, but picture/sound ok through the scart/HDMI
  • TV clicks on and off/resets on its own
  • TV refuses to turn on and red standby light flashes 9 times
Issue #2:
  •   Not working/dead/no standby light

Both issues can be resolved with no or little component replacement though good knowledge and expertise in repairs is necessary. These repairs were all cost effective, if you ...

Samsung LE32A456C2DXXU Repairs

November 1, 2012
We are currently getting a number of these into the workshop where some refuse to turn on (continuous red flashing light) or where sometimes they turn on and off again or switch themselves off.

These can be separate issues but both can usually be repaired within one working day. These tvs still give an outstanding picture (especially in HD) and the sound will be far superior to the cheap knock offs you get in the Supermarket. Think I'm being biased? Having worked on a fair number of TVs that h...
